Coffman endorsed by five former state GOP chairs

Five former Colorado Republican Party chairs endorsed CD-6 Republican candidate Mike Coffman, Coffman's campaign announced Tuesday.

The five former chairs are Bob Martinez (2005-2007), Ted Halaby (2003-2005), Don Bain (1993-1997), Phil Win (1979-1981) and Carl Williams (1975-1976), the campaign said in a release.

“It’s not surprising that leaders of our party who are familiar with Mike’s record of working with the Republican party, and on behalf of conservative principles are supporting him in this race," said Coffman manager Dustin Zvonek in the release. "They have each expressed their belief that we must send the most qualified and best prepared candidate to serve us in the United States Congress.”

Coffman said in the release that he was "deeply honored" by the endorsements.

I Support Armstrong

Look I am serving my country honorably and I am currently enlisted in the Army and have served 2 tours of duty in Iraq. I thank GOD for American and what it stands for. I supporting Armstrong not because of his non-military career but what he stands for which is change, enough said.

proud to serve

Todd, you know, not every sailor, soldier or airman runs around with guns shooting at bad guys. For every one combat soldier there are about 8 soldiers in support of him. Those soldiers make sacrifices too. If you don't believe it go talk to drivers that convoy supplies or sailors that work on the deck of an aircraft carrier. It takes incredible fortitude to serve whether you lead others in battle or not. Those sacrifices begin with sacrificing many of the basic freedoms you take for granted because you don't wear that uniform that says US on it. When you sign up you agree to forego some of those freedoms That's something you would not be familiar with, right, Todd? Neither is Armstrong or Harvey. Both of which were young enough to join the military at least as a reserve after 9/11 and neither of them responded to the call. In my mind that's a strike against both.

Closed for business?

You have your facts wrong. The business Coffman started is still around. He obviously had to stop running it himself when he was elected Treasurer, but to say it's out of business is flat wrong. I guess if you can't win on the facts you just make some up.

U r in love

The way you talk about Will Armstrong is amazing Todd. If he weren't married I'd say you two were lovers. Your tirade of attacks and aganist Mr. Coffman and weak case you make for Will is pathetic. I suggest you get off this blog and do what Will's paying you to do...something that will actually contribute to the outcome of this race. Attacking someone with over 20 years of service to our country is unpatriotic. How many do you have? You make me sick.

Deer In the Headlights

Just because someone spends a tour of duty in Iraq in the barrack and take a photo op in uniform for political purposes does not make them a leader or in a combat zone for a day in the dessert for a photo op that does not make a person a leader A leader is someone who is in the combat zone facing gun fire on a daily basis not one day and the war (dessert storm) is over in 3 days. People who are suffering from foreclosure is because of the decisions they made when they sign the contract on their homes, nobody twitched their arms to sign on the dotted line. If we continue to elect career politicians with polished resumes, we continue down the path of failed policies and cd-6 will suffer from this, it's time to bring a fresh common sense approach to issues with a business/community minded attitude not someone who is looking to pad their resumes for the next elected office, and looking out for their own best interest, instead of the insterest of the people of cd-6.

Let's Take a Look 2

Mr. Coffman on the other hand, has led troops into combat as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps and worked closely with the Iraqi's, on the ground, during their 2006 election. He has worked in business, the Colorado Assembly (both Chamber's), as Treasurer, and yes, even the Secretary of State. That is the resume of a well-rounded seasoned man, who has the wisdom to represent the 6th Congressional District in a dangerous world during this troubled time.

Let's Take a Look

I wonder if individual's, who have suffered from the sub-prime mortgage crisis, would consider ARMS's(trong's) businesses (and SPECIAL INTEREST LOBBYING) a success when they find out he is the main reason their homes are now in foreclosure and owned by the bank. In addition, anyone who watched the debates would conclude that Wil's resume hasn't helped him when it comes to public policy, deer in the headlights anyone?

Thimble deep

Armstrong supporters are a lot like their candidate…they know the talking points, but not much more.

Failed Business

Atleast Wil's business is still in operation and contirbuting to the economy and providing jobs in cd-6. What happen to the business Coffman once operated that is now CLOSED FOR BUSINESS. I do not see anything in his political material stating how he ran his business and how the business he operated supplied jobs and economic stimulus to cd-6, at this present time. Oh how could the political material state that because it's no longer in business, therefore, cd-6 DOES NOT benefit. To fix the environment in Washington DC, we need some one who will bring out of the box thinking mentality and not just the same ole political thinking, to Washington DC

Status Quo

With big names like Halaby and Martinez behind him, Coffman ought to be an easy pick for the coalition that put together that sweeping victory in 2005 and 2006. Oh wait....the GOP didn't do so well in those elections. My mistake.

05/14/08 5:15 pm

Are you kidding me?

Are you kidding me? Armstrong is being endorsed by several establishment or “status quo” insiders. I guess the difference is that Coffman and Harvey had to earn their endorsements, Wil just had his old man do all the heavy lifting. Pathetic.

The funny thing about

The funny thing about A.R.M.strong supporters is that they all like to talk about “resumes”. So let’s talk about resumes. While Mike Coffman has dedicated his life to serving our nation in military, and the state of Colorado as a respected conservative leader, Will Armstrong has done nothing but serve as a figure head for companies his dad really runs. Not to mention this is the guy who as the head of a mortgage lending lobby fought against ANY regulation to protect consumers from the sleazy predatory lending practices that have crippled the housing market in Colorado and across the country. The interesting thing is if you look at A.R.M.strong’s mailings or anything his campaign puts out you’ll never read he was involved in the mortgage business. Maybe the only resume A.R.M.strong wants to change is his own, and honestly, I don’t blame him.

Coffman

If I could not do the job I was initially elected to, I would try to get endorsements from the status quo too , instead of looking out for the best interest of the people of cd-6 and not trying upgrade a resume with references from the status quo,to look for another political office. It's time to move the cd-6 in a positive direction instead of using it as a lauching pad for the open political office. That why is Wil Armstrong is the candidate to get the job done because he believes and shares the core values toward cd-6 concerns. Wil is prepared to bring a business/community outlook as an outsider to Washington in fixing the environment which is loaded with career politican with outstanding resumes and status quo references. We need more citizens in Congress who will put the interest of the citizens of cd-6 first, instead of career politicans using cd-6 for a lauching pad to the next open political office.
