A new poll released by 6th Congressional District Republican candidate Mike Coffman's campaign shows the Colorado Secretary of State with a wide lead over the other three GOP candidates in the race.
Coffman was favored by 47 percent of the 300 likely CO-6 GOP primary voters polled. Businessman Wil Armstrong polled 19 percent, state Sen. Ted Harvey received 7 percent, and state. Sen. Steve Ward polled 4 percent, according to numbers released by the Coffman campaign.
The poll, conducted May 27-28 by the Tarrance Group, had a margin of error of +/- 5.8%. The survey asked, "If the Republican primary election for Congress were held today and you had to make a choice, for whom would you vote?”
Coffman manager Dustin Zvonek also released a poll findings summary showing Coffman with a double-digit lead in each of the five counties in the 6th Congressional District and leading among senior citizens by 26 percentage points.
“These numbers are very encouraging, especially considering the fact that there are only 39 days until absentee ballots will be mailed out to voters and just over 70 days until the Primary Election,” Zvonek said in a statement.
But Armstrong manager Jack Stansbery said in an e-mail that "it's premature to get excited about a poll this much before election day - before any real shots have been fired or anyone has begun an aggressive TV or mail program."
Stansbery also referred to a Coffman poll from January showing Coffman leading Armstrong by 34 percentage points.
"I am glad to see that Coffman's own poll shows us making up more ground over the last 6 months than himself," Stansbery said.
"Finally," Stansbery concluded, "there are four strong candidates in this race and we expect it to go down to the wire. While I can appreciate Mike’s confidence in his own numbers, it reminds me of the over confidence he showed leading up to the Secretary of State’s race in 2006… that he eventually won in a recount."

Taking Care of Our Men/Women in Uniform When they get Home
Wil may have not served in the militaty, but he is aware of how our veterans men/women in uniform are affected by the stress of war in our global fight against terrorist, when they return home from Iran and Afgansthan, which is more important issue, then how to fight a war with no exit policy. Most citizens in cd-6 wants to gradually withdraw from Iraq and families that have suffered through the casualties of war and the PTSD of our returned men/women of uniform needs to be addressed along with the shabby treatment our veterans are receiving from the VA. In addition, the pocketbook (high gas prices,
high food prices, health care, etc.) are important to the citizens of cd-6, not somebody who has made a being a career politician. It's time for a postitve change from the norm, that's why I and other militaty/veterans who have fought for this great nation will be supporting Wil Armstrong for US Congress come August 12th.
Sounds like a bitter employee
I would suggest that you stop blaming Mike for your troubles. Maybe you should take a look in the mirror and also look at this so called employee Mike through under the bus a little closer. Mike is a very fair man and I'm guessing if you were fired or transfered it was because of something you did, not because you were covering for Mike. As a Republican you should know about personal responsibility. Stop blaming others for you ineptness and outcomes. Attacking a man who has done so much for this country and this state, is silly and shows your lack of judgement and discretion. You can try to blame Mike and get revenge by bashing him anonymously on some blog, but I suggest you go to church, think about where this anger is coming from, and reevaluate your motives and intentions in a realistic manner.
A.R.M.strong’s message is
A.R.M.strong’s message is that he’ll clean up congress? Are you kidding me? As the head of the Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association he showed the type of self interested leader he would be. A.R.M.strong fought against any and all regulations that would have protected homeowners in Colorado, that’s not the type of leadership we need in Congress.
While Wil was
ruining the housing market and supporting no regulations for mortgage lenders, Mike was serving his country. 1 in 40 homes were foreclosed on last year. Why don't you ask someone who lost their home what they think of Will Armstrong and his business experience? I guess if you have no message, can't beat someone on your own merits and are down 30 points in the polls then you resort to desparate lies and irrelevant fabrications.
Your message
Wil's message is simple. Congress is a mess and we don't need more career politicians to fix it. The Republican party is a mess - primarily because career politicians there have prioritized buying votes with tax dollars to keep a white-knuckle grip on their jobs rather than doing the right thing.
We need those with real world experience, not career politicians, to fix it.
And despite what some of the ill informed here think, most of Wil's business experience is his own. Right now he runs a software company that he started on his own.
While Wil has been creating jobs, Coffman has literally been collecting a government check for 20 years.
Iraq Veterans for Armstrong
Speaking of messages, let's look at Mike's he has ran for several offices this decade, not fulling his term obligations, because of his inch to run for another office. I believe the great citizens are aware of Mike track record. During his current term as SOS he has the whole state of colorado nervous of the upcoming general election, because of the underdevloping SCORE program. When under pressure from external forces throws staff members under the bus to protect his own interest. Do you really think that the great citizens of cd-6 will trust this guy as Congressman. Loyalty is not a strong point of this guy. If it walks like a duck, quack like a duck, it's a duck.
What message?
Other than we need more veterinarians, doctors, teachers and ranchers in Congress. None of which he is by the way. He claims to be a small business owner but those are simply companies his dad started for him. Wil has never been a blue collar guy and he is more like the guy who fired you. When he comes up with a real message let me know.
Armstrong Has the Right Message for Cd-6
I believe that is what coffman is running on his resume, do you really think it's time for him to polish it up, due to his job performance with the SCORE program for the up coming general election for this nation's highest office which could be a diaster for the state of colorado in November. Once again, the great residents of cd-6 will chose in August not polls commissioned by a career candidate. Armstrong has the message not the resume to fix the environment in Congress.
#'s don't lie
That was a weak attempt to spin these devastating #'s. August will show a similiar outcome and you'll be left looking for employment. I suggest you polish up that resume.
opinions
polls are just like opinions everybody got one to make sure they look or sound good. Most of the people suryvied were already coffman supporters. Make sure the next time coffman takes a poll the company is not influence by cherry picking the process, to make the numbers look good. The Armstrong campaign will overcome yet another false survey funded by coffman. How can anybody trust this guy coffman to led cd-6, after his leadership of SOS, will the state of colorado be ready for the general election come Nov 4 with this SCORE program?
Demoralizing for Armstrong Campaign
Its seems like anytime Wil's campaign has some good news, Coffman comes back and slaps them in the face. Being down by that margin at this juncture in time can not go over well. Staff members must be walking on egg shells over at camp Armstrong.
