Rayburn picks up another military endorsement

CD-5 Republican candidate Bentley Rayburn has picked up an endorsement  from retired Army Lt. Gen. Billy Thomas, Rayburn’s campaign announced Friday.

In a YouTube video, Thomas, a 31-year Army veteran and executive director of the Military Communities Youth Ministries, called Rayburn “a man of high character” who “understands the relationship between the state and religion.”

“He also understands that our national security is just not involved in our overseas activities, but also here at home,” Thomas said in the video. “He understands the implications of our immigration policies on national security, and he is willing to work for every one of us to keep us safe.”

Thomas’ video was the first online endorsement posted by Rayburn’s campaign since April 14 -- a delay that hadn’t gone unnoticed by at least one YouTube user.
