The Talking Points Memo asks who actually secured that $3.6 million earmark for the National Alternative Fuels Foundation back in 2000 -- the one that a federal jury in Denver this week concluded was part of a fraud?
Was it Bob Schaffer, who now wants his own party to change some of its ways to win over independents and moderate Democrats? He told The Gazette that excessive spending and use of earmarks must go, and integrity must be central to all that he and other Republicans do.
At least he's recognized that it's an election about change.
