    Hammons turned in petition forms June 16 to Rose Sanchez of the Colorado Secretary of State's Elections DivisionHammons turned in petition forms June 16 to Rose Sanchez of the Colorado Secretary of State's Elections DivisionSecond Congressional District Unity Party candidate Bill Hammons announced Wednesday that he sold off his interest in a Texas-based oil and gas exploration company and will put at least $10,000 from the sale towards his campaign.

    Hammons sold his interest in Pioneer Exploration, an oil and gas exploration company headquartered in Houston, Texas; he told PolitickerCO Thursday that he plans on selling his only other oil and gas interest - a minor stake in the Chevron Corporation - within the next couple weeks.

    As he supports for a cap-and-trade system to reduce carbon emissions, "I think it's hypocritical for me to own any interest in any oil companies -- especially directly," he said.
