Coffman touts sizable lead in CO-6 GOP poll

A new poll released by 6th Congressional District Republican candidate Mike Coffman's campaign shows the Colorado Secretary of State with a wide lead over the other three GOP candidates in the race.

Coffman was favored by 47 percent of the 300 likely CO-6 GOP primary voters polled. Businessman Wil Armstrong polled 19 percent, state Sen. Ted Harvey received 7 percent, and state. Sen. Steve Ward polled 4 percent, according to numbers released by the Coffman campaign.

The poll, conducted May 27-28 by the Tarrance Group, had a margin of error of +/- 5.8%. The survey asked, "If the Republican primary election for Congress were held today and you had to make a choice, for whom would you vote?”

Coffman manager Dustin Zvonek also released a poll findings summary showing Coffman with a double-digit lead in each of the five counties in the 6th Congressional District and leading among senior citizens by 26 percentage points.

But Armstrong manager Jack Stansbery said in an e-mail that "it's premature to get excited about a poll this much before election day - before any real shots have been fired or anyone has begun an aggressive TV or mail program."

This Week's Winners & Losers

In this edition of weekly Winners & Losers, Mr. Irrelevant stays irrelevant, while a superdelegate does a super job in timing. We also poke some fun at our favorite Marine colonel, wonder how hard it is to get 6,000 signatures or even 1,000 signatures to make the ballot. So don’t miss this week’s cliff-hanger edition of Winners & Losers, by Wally Edge, who week in and week out, many of you think is always a loser.
